You’re Getting Warmer

a cork bulletin board holds pieces of paper with little reminders like "know what you know," "pleasure is abundant" as well as a picture of the author as a young child and art with an empty bookshelf except one golden flower which a bee is heading to

a compassing collection

Everyday i enchanté (delight, delight, delighted to meet you)
to my flower garden in the front
tended with an experimental, loose with capacity-varying hand and
google searches for whom of you like to be dead-headed or not
While i sit in my thrift store cane rocker
gaze into daisies and golden yarrow and
pincushion flowers
whose pokey heads i love after the petals fall and so disregard
how to force more blooms

With morning coffee and
7-year-old home for summer break
chatting about how this roly-poly is really a fly larva
And, do you believe me mom?

Yes. I believe that a named thing can be another
Who’s whose to say in what way
new may birth from a shell
or which of these multiverse gets to name a thing a thing
and always that.

It’s always that
i find the enchantment through body opening to silly or beauty, or tear slipping down or eyes soft sliding over and over each bloom or thirsty thing or space left around the new seedling telling me of its third year
before it is
here.

Here
I find enchantment in following what tight tells me
Like you can leave off Try
and just let the spinach bolt to see what flower comes and simply,
simple
eat the strange bitter leaves
while watering the tomatoes rather than make it all make a salad.

Or just stop
allow the done.

It is enchanting to shift the center, change the view
to leave

for the sure finding
of giving myself, meeting Myself
toes in earth and water deep.

Reflection Invitations:

(or just stop at the poem's end. It is often more than enough to just feel.)

What are the details, the names of your Enchantment (life’s spark, flow, stop, and Here Now) language? If this is a challenge to access, here are a few suggestions:

  • Start with the senses: What do you look at, hear, touch, smell that brings a spark of pleasure or calm? e.g. a plant, a purr, the ridges on your coffee mug, pine scent…

  • Picture the scene of the last time your body and being felt Here. e.g. afternoon tea while gazing at a climbing ivy, a quote you resonated with on Instagram and sent to a friend, a walk to the mailbox. What was around or not around (objects, setting, humans)? These whats wheres and whos usually form a pattern for your particular paths to access wonder and heart-full action.

  • We often watch or read about others doing actions that could give us a feeling we want to experience. What’s caught your interest lately: The Great British Baking Show, a Tiktoker giving political commentary, a book about botany? What feeling would it give you to do those actions? How could you get that feeling even 1% more in your life? This may actually be a quite different activity than those you are watching. Activities that give you the feeling (e.g. creating, weaving meaning, growth…) are what you want to turn towards.

  • What have others named as “the right path” that you are thinking about removing your co-signature from? What if you removed your energy from Try and Force? What if you named what brings the unique you, this now you joy? How different would you feel in that you chosen life?

  • What are you All Done with? What used to bring joy and Here, but is maybe asking you to release? How does it feel to think of having Space for naming and discovering a new way?

If more support around naming and Withing what enchants (or does not) particular you, I’d love to journey with you in a 1-1 session.
